Meet our amazing team.
Here at Abacus Transport we have a team ethic like no other, whether it be our infamous Whatsapp Group, Biscuit Decorating Competitions or our Bring and Share Bake Off’s.
I for one feel privileged to have inherited the team which I have and I am proud to be a part of what I regard as my Abacus Family. On becoming a customer of Abacus Transport you will of course speak to and sometimes meet with us as we deliver your promises to your customers. So until we meet here is your chance to put some faces to names.
Martin Baxter (Group General Manager)
Disclaimer: Abacus Transport accept no liability for sleepless nights once you have viewed this page – instead of asking the team to write their own bios, we got them to do it for each other…
Group General Manager
Martin has many years of hazardous goods experience and is a qualified Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor. He joined the team as Group Director from one of our biggest customers, at the end of 2019 (yes, we do still work with them). Thanks to his shrewd decisions and sheer determination, the company continues to go from strength to strength in a very competitive industry.
Martin drives the company forward (sorry about the pun) whilst focusing on our core values.
His love of Gin is only trumped by rock music, especially Iron Maiden!
PA to Directors
There are a few things that spring to mind about Gina; organised, thorough, an eye for detail and always willing to help.
She is a real team player and very respected within the workplace .
Overall it is a real pleasure to work with Gina with a combination of true professionalism and the RED pen
Ashley is a mum of 1 (also called Jake!) She brings a motherly touch to her work, she is caring and supportive to staff and customers who require assistance with issues, personal and professional with an unprecedented dedication and resilience to her work.
She can be found at the crack of dawn to the setting of the sun tirelessly working hard to achieve the high standards she sets herself which makes the whole office work that much harder.
She is the zeitgeist of the office, when she laughs we laugh with her and when she cries we cry.
Ashley’s appetite for life is as great as her appetite for food, she also has a new found passion for baking – always a winner in the office.
So how can we describe Luke !!
Annoying – Constantly drumming his fingers on the desk
Stubborn – But only sometimes
Grumpy – But only occasionally
Funny – But very rarely
Genuinely a nice guy & a true all rounder. Jumping in to help whenever and wherever needed – whether that be driving a class 1 vehicle, driving a forklift in the warehouse or running the traffic desk. Luke’s dedication to the business is faultless and he works extremely well as a team player.
No you cannot poach Luke as he belongs to us!
Outside of work Luke is kept busy by his 3 kids, is Akela of his own cub pack and he has excellent cooking skills which he often shares with the team.
FORS practitioner, CPC National holder, SIGMA green belt, first aid and fire marshal, ADR type 1&2 and also achieving a CSE grade 1 in geography .
An all round know it all !!!
He is the kindest and most generous colleague, has the patience of a saint with the calmest manner. He can multi task and problem solve with ease.
We enjoy working with Stuart and have often wondered what we would change about him …… it will definitely be his wardrobe – Sorry Stu
Jake is a young guy, older than his years, with broad shoulders always willing to give a helping hand. He has a heart of gold but can be known to worry or overthink things (well, he does support Watford). You will find him logging your job in to the system and producing the labels to go on to your jobs.
He loves his music, going to the gym, and likes a drink every now and then even if it is a can of Monster. He likes to watch Watford FC, Dragon Bull Movies, likes a music gig and thinks Fleetwood Mac are timeless (told you he was older than his years)
He lives with his mum but can’t wait to move out. Jake has a girlfriend to spend his weekends with, is known to venture into the kitchen occasionally, but samosas were a step too far when searching for ingredients. He is partial to a chocolate covered raisin and loves to get a bargain in Costco
